Therapy Approaches

Therapy is about transformation, new ideas, building energy, nurturing dreams, overcoming hurdles, and relishing breakthroughs.

I use EMDR, Cognitive therapies, Mindfulness and Compassion-Focused approaches, as well as Somatic (body-based) modalities. I’ll help you set clear intentions for your life, get motivated, commit to what you are building, and breathe life into your intentions and goals.

We’ll work collaboratively to determine your unique needs and goals. You’ll let go and release what no longer serves you so that you can welcome in the new. You’ll learn to be more introspective and gain the ability to plant seeds for the future.

I work with clients ages 12 and up who…

  • Have experienced trauma, such as bullying, violence, medical trauma, disasters, traumatic grief, or abuse (physical, sexual, psychological, emotional).

  • Are grieving one or more losses, such as losing a significant person, a relationship, a job, health, safety, control, or freedom.

  • Feel depressed. When numbness, hopelessness, and despair just won’t go away.

  • Feel anxious. Panic, worries, and fears consume your life. You just can’t turn your brain off.

  • Are navigating perinatal and motherhood issues, such as miscarriage, pre and postpartum blues or depression, parenting, anxiety, and stress.

Mindfulness

You may be going through life on autopilot without giving much thought to who you are, what you want, and why you are here. A major aspect of psychological growth is having an awareness of the present moment.

Compassion

Compassion is as vital to life as the air we breathe. If you want others to be happy, you must practice compassion. If you want to be happy, you must practice compassion. It promotes healing and emotional resilience.

Equanimity

Imagine what it’s like to be unflappable. You’ll still face challenges in your life, but you won’t ride the emotional roller coaster of anger, frustration, shame, and despair. Instead, a sense of satisfaction with who you are and the choices you make abounds.
